The Night Rating course is designed to equip pilots with the skills, experience, and theoretical knowledge required to fly safely at night, in accordance with regulations of the controlling Authority.

Upon completion, holders of a Part-FCL license will gain the privilege to operate aeroplanes during night hours, significantly enhancing their versatility and flight experience.

The Night Rating is a mandatory requirement for those intending to apply for a Commercial Pilot License (CPL).

Whether you’re advancing toward a professional career or simply expanding your flying capabilities, this course is a key step forward.

To enroll in the Night Rating course at Egnatia Aviation, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Valid PPL(A)
  • English Language Proficiency: A valid ELP assessment is required prior to the course commencement
  • Medical Fitness: A Class II Medical Certificate is required before commencing any flight training.

The Night Rating training comprises the following components:

  • Night Rating long briefings
  • 5 total flight hours

Night Rating long briefings

The Night Rating long briefings are designed to connect pre-learned theoretical knowledge with real-world application. Through a combination of demonstrations, practical examples, and guided practice, students reinforce their understanding and gain the confidence needed to apply concepts effectively during flight training.

Attending the PPL long briefings is mandatory before starting the flight training. Night Rating long briefings are scheduled to take place on specific dates.

To apply for a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), you must first hold a valid Night Rating. It’s not optional — it’s a mandatory step in the professional pilot training pathway.

Additionally, the course enhances your flight skills and confidence. Flying at night presents unique challenges, such as reduced visibility and reliance on instruments. Training under these conditions improves your situational awareness, navigation precision, and decision-making — all critical for airline or commercial operations.

Airlines look for well-rounded pilots. Holding a Night Rating shows that you’ve trained in more advanced conditions and are one step closer to being operationally ready for professional roles.

In short, a Night Rating isn’t just a requirement — it’s a foundation for safer flying and a key contributor towards a successful commercial or airline pilot career.
